Difference between home/content marketing and digital marketing.

What is the difference between home /  content marketing and digital marketing?

Answer 1:

In the words of my old mentor, I would say this

Content Marketing and Technological marketing

These are "related, but distinct".Digital marketing cannot be reduced to content marketing and content marketing is not just digital.

Let me tell you the details.

Technological marketing includes all channel any organization that uses itself to market online, such as:

     *SEO

     *PPC (AdWords / Bing)

     *PR (PR though not digital)

     *Social media

*Paid social media (FB / Instagram / Pinterest / etc)

     *Referral / Affiliate

And more

Content Marketing

In my opinion there is a way to make all of the above more effective. There are two aspects to content marketing:

The aspect of content, which is adopting content strategies for production in the right format; And

In favor of marketing, which has shed tears over that content through the distribution channels mentioned above.

Content can also be looked at as a channel, but I don't like to look at businesses with dedicated marketing teams, often with dedicated content managers / marketers / strategists on the board.

I don’t like to think of content marketing as its own channel because only because of the two sides I mentioned above especially there production. There are sides and then promotion side.

I believe that content marketing needs to work with distribution channel owners to get their message out to the world, so they need to be partners

As Aaron Werdorf says

Treat the content “as a team game”.

Content can sometimes roll up under digital marketing, but we should also not forget that content marketing can happen offline in the real world.

You don't think of advertising as content marketing, but it can be. It attracts people’s attention.

Are there placards in New York City subway ads or platforms? I would argue that they are both.

Are they offline or digital marketing? It can be both depending on how you are measuring the effect.

And at the end of the day, does it really matter if it really comes offline or online?

I think marketers have “whether it’s digital or content or offline or PR”, while it’s just a practice of arrogance. If we forget our egos, we are all going to be more effective.

Answer 3:

A typical content marketing workflow would be something like this:

Lead comes to your site / landing page

They get to see a white paper offer, a video to watch, and so on

They use the content - or fill out the form to redirect - to the content

The basis of the concept is providing free information to your potential customers (or in exchange for their contact information). They get something valuable from you, when you start building relationships with them.

To put it bluntly, digital marketing campaigns can have a content component but can also benefit from SEM, email marketing, and so on. What’s remarkable about this, though, is that other parts of that part can do the same. If done correctly, it acts like a liquid ecosystem.
